The AWFC is proud to announce the AWFC Care Program: An always-open, ongoing, allyship program for composer parents and care-givers.
Please join Board member Jenna Fentimen as she introduces the program, alongside Board member Daisy Coole who will moderate an open discussion about this incredibly important topic: composing and care-giving.
AWFC CARE PROGRAM
75% of unpaid care-work falls to women worldwide. If you are finding the prospect of balancing care-giving and composing daunting, or are looking for like-minded composer parents, care-givers and role models to talk to, please consider signing up as a 'Care-Giver' below. If you have experienced parenting or care-giving and would like to be able to share any support, wisdom and encouragement, please sign up as a 'Ally' below. What do you wish someone had told you that you could pass on?
This program is always open. Care-giving covers parenting, but also the care of older adults, or those who are not able to care for themselves independently because of disability, disease, mental health conditions, etc.
If you would like to be an AWFC Care Ally, please sign up today! And as soon as a Care-Giver signs up who will be a great pairing, we will be in touch to see if you have the time to begin your journey of once-a-month meet-ups, virtually, or in person if possible.
Allies - if we reach out, and you are too busy, that's absolutely fine. We may try again, if another Care-Giver signs up. If you would like to be removed from the list at any time, just let us know.
Care-Givers, please sign up AT THE MOMENT THE PROGRAM WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL TO YOU, and we will find you your perfect Ally partnership asap.
We will set up an initial meeting via email for new pairs. We would advise that you 'meet' once a month for 6 months from that point, and you will have a Partnership Manager who will be on hand to answer any questions along the way. This is a global program, so meetings will most likely be virtual. However, if you are keen to be paired by location let us know, and we will see what we can do!
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23
