To all industry professionals, composers who do not identify as women, and other individuals who wish to support the AWFC:
Today on #GivingTuesday, we are reaching out to you, a member of the music and film community, to ask you to join our great organization as a Supporting Member for 2022. By becoming part of our community, you can actively participate in events while simultaneously amplifying the voices of women composers with the goal of reaching gender parity. This supporting membership is for all industry professionals, composers who do not identify as women, and other individuals who wish to support the AWFC. Supporting members are listed on the AWFC website and granted access to numerous events, newsletters, workshops and networking opportunities. The annual membership fee for supporting members is $100 and is renewed per calendar year.
The Alliance, with its nearly 700 members, focuses on community building, education, and outreach with the objective of generating visibility and opportunity for women composers. As part of our mission to support and elevate their work, we have streamlined our website with a searchable online directory of our members, offering a spotlight for industry professionals to discover and access their talents for professional opportunities. This directory is actively used in our industry worldwide. Our premier Mentorship Program pairs emerging composers with established industry professionals for a six-month intensive of one-on-one guidance and career development. AWFC Care is an allyship initiative which affords working parents and caregivers support and counsel. Our weekly INSIDE Sessions, a video panel discussion series, provides insight into music technology and creative process with a focus on peer review and industry networking.
Managing these unique programs and events falls on the shoulders of our board members and volunteers, who generously donate their time to serve this community. We charge our regular members a nominal fee of $50 for professionals and $30 for students and aim to keep these fees down so that our services are accessible to as many women as possible. We are thrilled to see such massive membership growth, but our team is operating at capacity. We would be immensely grateful for your financial support to hire paid administrative assistance.
You can visit our website at theawfc.com to learn more about our organization and view a current list of supporters. We sincerely hope that you will consider championing The Alliance for Women Film Composers.
For any collaboration to succeed, the partners would have to be in fine tune and sync with one another, artistically and intuitively. Spitfire Audio's Composer Magazine spoke with Ian Hultquist and Drum & Lace about their collaborations.
