Ching-Shan Chang

Ching-Shan Chang is a composer of multimedia scores and concert music based in Los Angeles. She is the composer of numerous short films and has worked with composers such as Junkie XL (Tom Holkenborg), Mychael Danna, Carter Burwell and more but is currently working primarily alongside Holkenborg as an additional composer. Her credits can be found in studio films such as Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Paramount Pictures), My Father’s Dragon (Netflix), and her collaboration with director Guilherme Pedra titled Elsewhere (A Flor Azul) which marked a milestone with its successful performance across film festivals including the 71st International Cannes Film Festival. Ching-Shan has won several Best Music awards and has also excelled in film music competitions such as International Berlin Film Scoring Competition, and Krakow FMF Young Talent Awards. Moreover, she was the first Asian female composer to win the Golden Eye in the 8th International Zurich Film Music Competition for her score in Danny and the Wild Bunch.

Before she started her career as a film composer, she has participated in several workshops such as NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop with Woman in Music Scholarship from Sorel Organization, The Mentor Program from The Society of Composers and Lyricists, the ASCAP/ Columbia Film Scoring Workshop, and a year-long internship with Junkie XL in Score Academy in 2019.

Aside from Ching-Shan's works in the multimedia world, she has also been contributing music for trailers, commercials and concert settings. She's been commissioned by a variety of performers and orchestras and is a long time collaborators of National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra - they've worked on projects such as the musical "Once Upon an Island", orchestral arrangements of Taiwanese folk tunes and the national anthem which was to be performed on Taiwan's National Day Ceremony in 2021 on the world famous landmark - Taipei 101. She has also worked with Evergreen Symphony Orchestra which premiered her orchestral work titled "Images of Kaohsiung - Cangue of Freedom" and has just now been commissioned by Taipei Symphony Orchestra for their 55th anniversary in 2024.
