She is the disciple of Guruji Padma Vibhushan, Sangita Kalanidhi, Chevalier Late Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna. She formerly got trained under Guru Shri Neyveli Santhanagopalan, Guru Shri Injikudi Ganesan & Guru Smt. Dr.Rukmini Ramani & Guru Shri Chidambaram Shanmukham, Initially she got trained under Guru Smt. Geetha Srinivasan & Guru Smt. Lakshmi.

She is an Undergraduate in Economics (BA) from Stella Maris College, Chennai.
She is a Postgraduate in Indian Music (MA) from Queen Mary's College, Chennai. She secured First Rank in M A Indian Music.
She completed M.Phil in Music at Queen Mary's College, Chennai. Currently pursuing Ph.D. research in Music, Queen Mary's College, Chennai.
In 2012, she conducted, arranged and produced music for EMI Virgin’s label “Kandar Shashti Kavacham" and "Subrahmanya Bhujangam" (composed) a contemporary album sung by Shri. Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam.
In Dec. 2012, she cut yet another album “Mahakavi Bharathiar’s Vande Mataram”. For this Album, she composed, produced/programmed, arranged, conducted music and sang with Shri. Dr. S. P. B, Shri. Hariharan and Shri. Unnikrishnan.
She made the musical arrangements and produced/programmed music for Carnatic Symphony – Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival in 2014 & 2017.
She composed music for the Tamil Movie "Prabha" & the Audio was launched in August 2015.
She performs Carnatic Classical Vocal and Keyboard, fusion & light music concerts. She has given around 1000 stage shows and concerts. She has given around 100 Carnatic classical keyboard concerts. She performs Ghazal, Bhajan concerts too. Leading Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan titled her Saadhanai Naayaki [achiever] when she was 8 and leading Tamil daily Dinamani titled her Eazhu Vayadhu Isai Kuyil [7-year-old cuckoo] when she was 8 again. Ace Lyricist Kavipperarasu Vairamuthu called her "Ini Nee En Magal" [my daughter since then] in an interview with a leading Tamil weekly Kumudam at her of 9.
She had the capacity to reciprocate any song that she hears immediately with her sonorous voice when she was 21/2 years. She was taken to Carnatic classical music class when she was 31/2 years. She started her schooling in St.Mary’s Matriculation School, Cuddalore, Tamilnadu.
On keenly watching her uncle playing keyboard and guitar, she started to play the Keyboard whatever she sang. She started acquiring knowledge of music through her uncle’s guidance and support. She had an inclination towards music rather than playing or chatting with her friends during her childhood days. After her school time, she simply loved to sing along with karaoke and grew up listening to A.R.Rahman’s soundtracks, where she got familiar with chord progressions and literally tried out the same on the keyboard.
She started to learn her basic Carnatic classical music training from gurus like Smt. Lakshmi, Shri.Chidambaram Shanmugam & Smt.Geetha Srinivasan. She started to perform a song in Sarva Sakthi Vinayagar Temple, Anna Nagar and gave her first vocal concert at the age of 5 ½ at a Rettaipillaiyar Temple, Pudupalayam in Cuddalore.
She participated in a competition conducted by the Madras Music Academy where the judges admired her talent and gave her a special prize as she was underage for that competition. Her talent in light music singing was shown when she participated, sang the song Kannodu Kanbathellam and won in the competition conducted by Eshwar Ragas Orchestra, Cuddalore.
On looking at her talent, Sun tv, a leading Tamil channel telecasted her interview in Kalai Malar program (“Saathanainayaki”- Feb.1999) when she was seven. She was then invited to a Temple at Pernampattu near Vellore, Tamilnadu for a concert. There she was offered the holy “Poorna Kumbam”.
At this juncture, Cuddalore Lions Club, Rotary Club and Junior Chamber of Cuddalore appreciated her talent and gave the opportunity to perform and awarded her with titles. Many write-ups about her came in leading magazines and newspapers. She was called “Kuttikuyil” by the media at that time. Also, she sang Shri. Isaignani Ilaiaraja’s song “ennai thaalaatta varuvalo” infamous music Director Adithyan’s music orchestra and stole the audience’s minds of Cuddalore citizens. Having done this, her aim was to become a singer who sings all genres and a music director. She stepped in deeply to work towards this.
When she was seven, her passion for music and her uncle’s motivation paved the way to launch her debut musical album "Natha Oli" (Label: JSJ Audio). She sang all 9 tracks and Music was by Mr.Kumardeva which fetched her accolades and titles like EZHU VAYADHU ADHISAYAM [Dinamani, leading Tamil magazine].
After her grandfather Shri.S.Ramamurthi’s effort, she had her intense training under Kalaimamani Injikudi Shri.E.P.Ganesan, Nadaswara vidwan. It gave her a strong foundation in Carnatic classical music. She started performing regular music concerts. Her whole family was pleased and surprised to see her play the Pancharathna keerthanaigal in Keyboard. She started participating in the Thiruvaiyyaru Thyagabrahma Utsavam since 2000. She also gave a program in Thiruvaiyaru Tamil Isai Mandram for 3 years. Jananiy sang in the Kodai Vizha festival conducted by Tamilnadu Government, Cuddalore.
She was honoured with Junior Citizen Award from Junior Chamber of Cuddalore (1999), “Child Prodigy in Music” from Rotary Club of Cuddalore (2000).
She was one of the Best Women by leading magazine “Devi” on International Women’s day (08- 03-2000).
She was blessed enough to receive the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement in the field of Classical Music (Vocal) as her very first Award (2001).
When she was nine she sang along with Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam for a Tamil Pop Album “Poongatru" (Label: JSJ Audio - Jan 2002) in the music of Mr.L.Vaidhyanathan, & all the lyrics by Padmabhushan Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu.
She received the title Pannisai Selvi from Thiruvaiyaru Tamil Isai Mandram (14-01-2002).
She did participate in “Children’s Day Function” on 14-11-2002 at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.
Our then President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam asked her to sing St.Thyagaraja’s Pancharatna Krithi “Endaro mahanubavulu” and appreciated her.
She received the Best Acheiver Award from Manitha Urimai kazhakam, received from Chief Minister of Pondicherry, 2002.
She received Kalai ILamani Award from Tamilnadu Government (2003).
During this time, She received blessings from many legends and maestros such as Shri.MSV, Shri.Isaignani Illayaraja, Smt.MS Amma, Smt. DKP Amma, Shri Kunnakkudi Vaidhyanathan, Shri AK Pazhanivel, Shri.Srimushnam Rajarao, Smt.Sudha Raghunathan, Abhaswaram Ramji, Music Director Shri.S.A.Rajkumar etc. When she met Shri. Isaignani Ilayaraja, his son music director Shri. Karthik Raja gave her a chance to sing a song for the movie "Album" (2003).
She received Baala Arul Isai Vaani from EKP school of arts, Mayavaram on 08-06-2003 & Sundara Varshini from Aaalala Sundara Sabha, Cuddalore on 05-08-2003.
Her progress in her career was significant at this time and she dwelt well in her studies. Almost all newspapers and magazines gave a write up about Jananiy and she participated in TV shows. She started composing music at her age 12. She used to compose the hymns found in her school diary and just sing it all the way. She also grabbed the Best Vocalist Award every year from her school - St.Mary’s Matriculation School, Cuddalore. She was selected as one of the 3 nominees by the PoGo channel for POGO Amazing Kid Award in all India level Music category. She frequently travelled to Chennai to attend concerts, gave an interview, tv programs and learnt some compositions from Smt. Rukmini Ramani (daughter of Composer Shri. Papanasam Sivan)
She was awarded Thenisai Vaani from Vani Vilasa Sabha, Kumbakonam on 17-04-2004 & Amudhisai Abirami from Vinayagar Temple, Panruti on 17-09-2004.

Her only intention to achieve in music made her family shift to Chennai in 2006. She did her X Std. in Adarsh Vidyalaya, Chennai and XI and XII in Church Park, Chennai. She was the Topper in subject Tamil.
Jananiy composed and sung a special song on her school for the Church Park Centenary celebrations 2007.
She received the “Vocational Service Award” from Rotary Club of Cuddalore Central on 10-09-2007, “Young Achiever Award” from Rotary Club of Madras Northwest on 15-11-2007, “Bala Swarna Jwala Award from Journal of School Social Work on 25-11-2007.
She continued her Carnatic training under Guru Shri Neyveli Santhanagopalan. She cut her 3rd album which was a devotional number- Sri Venkateshwara Suprabhatam & Kandar Sashti kavacham (Label: JSJ Audio) which got released by legendary Dr.M.Balamurali Krishna. Incidentally, Dr. Balamurali Krishna called her and said he would take her as his disciple. This was a very big blessing to Jananiy and a great privilege to learn from him thereon.
She received the Young India Title from Nilgris Cultural Association on 27-2-2009, Vidivelli Achiever Award from Lions Club – Peripheral City of Madras on 07-06-2009 & Cuddalore Isaikkuyil from Saraswathi Gana Sabha, Cuddalore on 02-08-2009.
She simultaneously started learning initial grades in Electronic Keyboard,&, Theory of Music from Ms. Ahlaiyu Nauid. She completed Grade 8 in Electronic Keyboard under Mr. V. Giridharan, TRINITY COLLEGE OF LONDON. She completed Grade 8 in Theory of Music and Grade 8 in Western Classical Vocal under Mr. Augustine Paul (L.MusTCL), Trinity College London. She completed ATCL [Associate Trinity College London] under Mr. Augustine Paul (L.MusTCL), Trinity College London.
She initially learnt Hindustani classical music from Smt.Sowmiya Madanagoplanan. She took further training from Shri. Kuldeep Sagar and completed Senior Diploma in Hindustani Classical Vocal. She sings Bada-Chota khyal, Tumri, Bhajan, Hori, Tarana, Ghazal, Abhang.
She received “Isai Vaani” from Jaya Educational Trust, Thirunindravur on 08-03-2010.
Jananiy and her uncle designed the concept-series Classic Waves - Kannan songs in Tamil ( 2007), traditional songs for which Jananiy conducted, arranged and produced music that is the Fusion album series. This concept fetched them good recognition and became a popular number. Further they gave Classic Waves 2 – Silambosai (2010), Classic Waves 3 - Hit songs on Lord Shiva (Label:JSJ Audio- 2011), Classic Marvel 1, 2, 3, 4 , concept-series with respect to Carnatic classical, Classic Hits in Keyboard, Pancharatna Krithis in Keyboard and Kannan songs in Keyboard, Chants were her other albums.
In 2009, she participated in an All India level competition which was held at Mumbai after crossing various levels by the Indian Music Academy run by Pt.Jasraj ji & Durga Jasraj ji. She was judged by Pt.Jasraj Ji, Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasia Ji and Pt.Hariharan JI. She won the title Rising Star (2009) and the scholarship.
This made Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia Ji to take Jananiy for a Jugalbandhi Concert for the “Music festival Au Fil des Voix” at Alhambra concert hall, Paris, France during Feb. 2011.
She received Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar during December 2011.
Jananiy entered Stella Maris college to do her graduation in Economics & the College encouraged her a lot and awarded her with the Best Artist Award on 17-03-2012.
She started to perform in all Chennai sabhas regularly and her Concerts were reviewed by The Hindu-Friday review, Dinamalar, Dinamani, Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam etc.
She received Maharajapuram Santhanam Endowment Prize from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha on 08-12-2012.
She received Best Junior Vocalist Award from Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Vani Mahal 09-12-2013.
