Ruiqi Zhao is a Film Composer and Multi-instrumentalist from China, with a unique approach to creating intense, emotional and immersive sound tracks. She went to Eastman School of Music where she gained her Film Composition master degree and studied with Mark Watters, six-time Emmy- Award-winning composer. She is also a student of Jeff Beal, the composer of House of Cards. Her work generally adapt a variety of genres and soundings, as she continues to development her signature voice in composition.
Her recent work includes the movie One True Loves as an orchestrator; (The movie is starred by famous Hollywood actor Simu Liu. ); The Spanish Movie Mi Otro Jon; Chinese movie Never Say Never which was released in June 6th 2023 and already hits 700 million box office in China. She also participated in a project called On Golden Mountain, an opera premiered in Huntington Library. And her music was featured in a Podcast called Dark Side of The Web, which is now on Apple Podcast. She is also the composer for two music licensing company. The short films she scored has been premiered in LA shorts and other famous film festivals.
Self-taught pianist, Ruiqi is also a singer and studied vocal performance for 2 years. She frequently includes her own vocal in her works. As a versatile composer, Ruiqi is able to compose, arrange, orchestrate, mix, score notation all by herself. And she is sensitive to all varieties of musical styles, including orchestral music, pop music, concert music, electronic music etc.
